Our Wedding Color Palette

One of the very first things we pondered on when we started planning for the wedding was the color motif. It's important for the elements to look unified and cohesive, and all brides are aware that a color palette is key in achieving this.

Most people who know me know as well that I love all things PINK, and it was but expected that pink shall be my wedding color. :) My next question to myself was: what other color must I combine pink with?

As usual, I did a lot of research, and there are too many beautiful combos to choose from. I myself had a hard time fixating my attention on just one. Some of my options were the following:

Shades of Pink and Gray

Shades of Red, Pink and White

The first palette above are really pretty and are easy on the eyes.  The colors are soft and romantic. The second one is gorgeous too, but I am not a fan of red.

I was almost close to choosing one from the two above, but I felt that something was missing. My friends know that I am a fan of vivid and bright colors, and on our wedding, I want to see things pop on the photos.

Then I saw this..
Hot Pink, Blush Pink and Navy Blue

The colors are bold and vibrant, but at the same time romantic. Plus, navy blue is the color Percy likes most, so our palette is technically a combination of both our favorite colors. Perfect!  Finally, the decision was made!

We will be carefully planning the blend of this color combo depending on the wedding elements they will be applied to. For example, the bridesmaids', ninangs and flower girls’ dresses will be navy, and all their bouquets will be predominantly blush pink. At the reception, most decors and linens will be blush pink, fuchsia and navy blue.

There are many considerations in choosing your wedding colors, and most couples usually ask for the popular color trends. For Percy and me obviously, it was a different story.  We just let our own imagination and feelings guide us.

Cheers,

The Proposal

Perhaps one of the highlights in a girl's life is when her love asks for her hand in marriage. It's when he signifies that he intends to spend his life with her forever, and asks if she'd love to do the same. Well, this big question was lovingly raised to me on November 5, 2013... and Percy did it in his most amazing way.

It was my 28th Birthday and we attended our weekly fellowship with our Young Professionals Circle ministry. After that, we and our fellow YP's decided to go out and eat at McDonald's Muñoz. I just thought that it was just a simple dinner like what we always did after every fellowship.

I remembered the delaying tactics of Nikko, instead of driving directly to McDo, he took the long cut. Haha! Upon our arrival to McDo, Baby G (Gemma) told us that we have no space because there are a lot of people that time, so she talked to the Manager and asked if we can have their function room for us. Without any idea what's happening, I entered the room and to my surprise the lights on, and I heard voices shouting HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Waaahhh!!! Most of my fellow YP’s were there (especially those people who says goodbye to me at the church telling me they’re going home early.. They all lied! Haha!). All of them singing happy birthday to me. I was so touched and I felt so loved because I wasn't expecting something like that. I never thought that they prepared a surprise birthday celebration for me (more like a kiddie party, Lol!) prepared no other than Percy and my fellow YP's! I was so happy celebrating my birthday with my brothers and sisters in Christ again. We ate, we played games and they gave their gifts (mostly Hello Kitty stuff which is my fave! Yey!) and their birthday messages for me.

And for the final message, Percy took the moment.. He gave a touching message for me looking back all our memories together, then he sang “God Gave Me You”. I was clueless all the time.. I just thought that he was just giving his message for me, remembering all our moments, that he was just singing for me as a birthday present, until he knelt down on his knees in front of my fellow YP’s and said his piece. Aaaww! I was teary-eyed. I didn't know how to react, I can’t even find words to say that moment because it was all unexpected. And with the tears in my eyes, I said YES!. Of course I will. I want to marry him. Finally after more than 4 years of being together as a couple, we’re ENGAGED!! Happiness overload! :)

The ring was exactly what I wanted. Simple and elegant, without fuss. It's white gold with a small center piece diamond. I love it!

But more than the ring, I love what it symbolizes --- our desire to spend the rest of our lives with each other. In fact even without an engagement ring, we had always known that we will grow old together, that we will raise a family of our own, and that we will traverse life's paths side by side, now and in the years to come.

It wasn’t an expensive proposal (the venue, the food etc..) but with God at the center of everything and with those people present that night who loves us most, it made more than something special.

About Me

Hi, I’m Manilyn Bersoto-Guela, a wife and mommy. I live in Mandaluyong City with my husband, Percy, whom I exchanged vows with in June 2014. Last November 2015, we were blessed with a happy baby girl, Annika Emmanuelle, and she’s probably the most written about topic in this blog. :)

I’m not really a writer, but I started this blog because I want to remember important events of my life through the years.

This blog is an account of many blessings I have received. My hope and prayer is that my posts will always encourage you to go through life in such wonderful ways.

Xoxo,
