Hong Kong & Macau Blog Series

As I was browsing through my posts, I noticed I haven’t written about my out of the country travel, well, it’s better late than never. So today, let me blog about Hong Kong and Macau.

Before Percy and I got married last June 2014, it was such a big blessing for us to finally have our first out of the country trip without having to spend even a single peso. Yes you read it right, we paid nothing, for it was all paid by Kuya Toff, from the airfare, hotel and accommodation, food even all the destinations that we went to during our 5 days trip. Our entire entire trip was paid by him alone and all we have to do was to bring our baggage and of course ourselves. Haha! Praise God for Kuya Toff! I shared this exciting adventure with my Percy and his family.

Here is the compilation for all the posts relating to my trip to Hong Kong & Macau in year for 5 days and 4 nights:

Day 0: Getting to Hong Kong (Part 1)

Upon arrival in Hong Kong, purchase your Octopus Card. You can use the card to pay MTR and Bus fares and even for groceries. For HKD150.00, the card has HKD100.00 consumable load – the HKD50.00 will serve as refundable security deposit fee.

Day 0: Our Hong Kong Accommodation: KG Garden Guest House (Part 2)

KG Garden Guest House is the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, within Mirador Mansion on Nathan Road. Offering free Wi-Fi, it is just a 2-minute walk from Victoria Harbour and Kowloon Park. The guesthouse is also surrounded by many local eateries and shopping centers.

Hong Kong Disneyland is definitely one of the best places in Asia that people dream of visiting. It is probably at the top of the go-to list of first time travelers to Hong Kong. Especially for people who grew up watching fairytale stories and Disney shows, a whole day may not be enough in this 28-hectare theme park!

The easiest way to get there is by riding the The Peak Tram. The tram ride was pretty enjoyable; it will take you to The Peak on what felt like a 45° inclined trail. The Peak is the highest point on Hong Kong Island. It has been the city’s most exclusive neighborhood since colonial times, especially for the rich and famous who were attracted by its cooler air. Now it is most popular for the cityscape views it offers.

Hong Kong Ocean Park is a great place for kids and, of course, kids-at-heart! :) We had never been to a theme park of this kind before, so it was a whole new adventure for us. This 3rd day of our Hong Kong vacation had minimal traveling but a lot of walking instead (at least it was just in one place).

Day 3: Avenue of the Stars (Part 2)

The Avenue of Stars pays tribute to the artists that helped make Hong Kong the “Hollywood of the East”. At night, the Avenue of Stars is a fun and lively place with movie memorabilia and celebrity plaques and hand prints.

Day 4: Macau Adventure

If you wish to return to your home country from Macau, you can visit the place last but make sure that you stay for at least one night. You need a day to explore this small territory. But for us who made only a side trip to Macau, we decided to hire a tour guide in Macau so not much planning went into that.

And that's wrap up my Hong Kong & Macau travelogue. :)

Xoxo,
